agreement.

Galley The Rear Commodore advised that a number of 5 written complaints had been received
from Members regarding the resignation of the Galley Maintainer as a result of negative comments
posted on the unofficial Hardway FB page. The Secretary summarised the communications to
provide background. The outgoing Franchisee was aggrieved by the comments posted about his
service and hardworking team and was not prepared to remain to serve his notice period.
To address the complaints and the concerns of the majority (one against) of the Committee the
secretary will write to specific individuals outlining the problems and impact the negative comments
have had and that such behaviour is unacceptable of club members. The letter will clearly state that
negative comments, complaints or observations need to be addressed to the Committee to formally
review and further instances could result in the club taking further action.
The Committee discussed at length the right of anyone to post on social media but the focus of
discussion centred around the unofficial FB group with administrators as opposed to a Page that has
formal controls in place, and what action could be taken to ensure the message is widely distributed
that comments on this unofficial group do not represent those of the club. The Flag Officers will ask
to meet with the Unofficial Hardway group administrators to discuss a potential name change and a
request the club burgee is no longer used.
The Sailing Committee Chairman advised he had arranged for a potential new franchisee to visit and
review the facilities in the coming week, the Rear Commodore will be available to advise further. It
was agreed that any new Galley Contract will an open contract and will specify the core days/hours
for services expected. If no new Franchisee is engaged the committee agreed members were not to
be permitted to use the galley facilities on an ad hoc basis. Exceptions to this will be Junior Week
and any formal HSC event. Any further requests to use the facilities is to be addressed directly to
the Rear Commodore.
The Sailing Committee agreed to review the possibility of running both Dinghy and Cruiser raising on
the same night as this may generate more of a demand for catering on the evening to make it
financially viable.
Publicity Nothing to report

Win10 re-installed on the Grid tablet in the foyer and has been working more consistently.

Correspondence
Letter of Complaint Mooring An email was received from a member with a formal
complaint about the current mooring allocation process, and/or associated rules, with the
view to change the current procedures and rules as needed. Concern was expressed that it
appeared that a member can qualify for 2 moorings for 2 boats by "going into partnership" It
was felt that this was unfair for the long list of members waiting for a mooring, and not "in
the spirit" of a fair and inclusive club. As the rules stands if a partner were to give up a
mooring the individual could go back to the top of the waiting list and an partners could take
on the ownership of the mooring.
The Mooring Officer proposed changes to the Club Rule 35 Moorings and Mooring
conditions (2019) 19 which would prevent the formation of partnerships solely to gain a
mooring. The Sailing Committee will review the nature and history of the partnership to
ensure it is genuine and not formed for the sole purpose of acquiring a mooring. The
mooring position is allocated to the registered Permit Holder and is not automatically
transferable to another partner listed in the club's register of partnerships. When the Permit
holder leaves the partnership, the mooring may pass to another member of the partnership
provided that the partnership has been established for more than five years, the new
mooring holder has been a Club member for five years and that all members of the
partnership hold a substantial number of shares in the ownership not being less than
16/64th shares. A husband and wife or cohabiting partner who both have full, full and
spouse or OAP and spouse membership with HSC, are automatically considered in
partnership on any registered vessel with an allocated mooring position. This was fully
agreed by the Committee with instant adoption with retrospective approval sought at next
AGM.
D-Day 80 Civic Parade Sun 9 Jun 24 Details of the road closures have been posted on the
club notice board and Committee and club members are encouraged to attend on the 9 th
along with the Secretary to meet and greet the mayor and councillors and to enjoy the
formal ceremony planned on the Hardway green.
One Private Function request for 18 Oct 24 from 1900 with Band approved by Committee.
AOB
Live aboard boat on Public Pontoon This vessel currently has outstanding dues to the club, having
only paid for the first week on the club pontoon. The Committee discussed a proposal to add to the
end of Bylaw 5.5
Visitors from recognised clubs or associations may berth alongside the pontoon at the published
rates and pay before departure. Visitors who are not members or who are unable to prove they
are members of a recognised club or association may also berth alongside the pontoon but are
to pay the advertised rates in advance.
However, the committee agreed not to proceed with this addition and to implement a change
once SCM rolled out.
Use of Electrical meters on the Pontoon - The Memberships Sec (2) raised the issue of members
pulling plugs and leads from the Pontoon Meters when there was still credit showing and without
discussion with users. The Instructions will be re-drafted.
Loss of a founding member The committee were advised of the sad loss of Mike Little and wished
to convey their sympathies to his family and friends.
